What laser modules does GE1 use, and what is each one best for?

GE1 combines a 10W blue diode laser and a 2W infrared (IR) laser in one machine. The blue diode laser is ideal for engraving and cutting wood, leather, paper, fabric, black acrylic, and other non-metallic materials. The IR laser is designed for permanent marking and fine engraving on bare metals and selected plastics. Together, they let you work with a much wider range of materials without swapping laser modules.

What materials can GE1 engrave and cut?

1. GE1 works with a wide range of metals and non-metals. The 10W blue diode laser can engrave and cut materials such as wood, leather, paper, fabric, and black acrylic. Under suitable settings, it can cut up to 8 mm basswood and 6 mm black acrylic. Cutting performance may vary depending on the material, thickness, processing settings, and number of passes.

2. The 2W IR laser is ideal for marking and engraving stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, gold, silver, and selected plastics. It is designed for metal marking and engraving, not metal cutting.

Is GE1 suitable for beginners?

Yes. Automatic focusing, one-touch framing, and one-touch engraving help reduce setup time and make it easier to achieve a successful result from the very first project. Experienced users can also fine-tune their designs and engraving settings through GE LAB or continue working with LightBurn.

How do Autofocus and Outline Framing simplify setup?

Enter the material thickness, and GE1 automatically moves its electric Z-axis to the correct focal height. You can also fine-tune the focus manually using dual-point focusing.

Standard framing shows only the outer boundary of your design. Outline Framing traces the actual contour of the artwork, making it easier to check the size, orientation, and placement on round or irregularly shaped workpieces before engraving or cutting.

What is the working area of GE1?

GE1 has a standard working area of 105 × 105 mm. With the optional Slide Extension, the working area expands to 105 × 370 mm, giving you more room for longer workpieces and batch engraving.

The maximum workpiece height for standard flat engraving is 110 mm.

Can GE1 engrave tumblers, rings, and other curved objects?

Yes. With the optional rotary attachment, GE1 supports seamless 360° full-wrap engraving on tumblers, mugs, rings, and other cylindrical or curved objects.

The adjustable U-axis tilts from 0° to 90°, making it easier to engrave different exterior surfaces and hard-to-reach interior areas.

What software is compatible with GE1?

GE1 works with ACMER GE LAB for desktop and Android and is also compatible with LightBurn.

ACMER GE LAB provides an easy-to-follow engraving workflow and fine image-tracing tools. Experienced LightBurn users can keep the familiar layout, vector-editing tools, and job setup they already know—without relearning their workflow.

ACMER GE LAB does not currently support iOS.
